Day 78 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

If you are just joining the blog please see Day 74 for the explanation of this series.

And last but not least... an idea from my BFF/Sister Shari. This one I had to go all out to make a point. The idea here is the struggle between making a nice home cooked, nutritious meal for yourself vs. picking up some fast food. But of course I had to throw a little 1950s glam in there by cooking in my heels and apron.

Day 77 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Ok so we have this beautiful soaking tub in our bathroom. It is large and comfy and practically drains the hot water heater when you fill it up. Sadly I have only taken a bath in the tub one time. (And that was only because my loving husband surprised me by making me a bath. I know, he's a keeper. But I digress.)

This image pokes fun at how I run a bath for my son every night and pamper him but never take any time out for myself.

And let me tell you... getting those cucumbers to stay on my eyes while operating a remote to my camera was no joke.

Day 76 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

If you are just joining the blog please see Day 74 for the explanation of this series.

This image is another take on the being frumpy and getting stuff done or spending that time to doll myself up. Lately the frumpy chick cleaning up the bathroom is who I end up looking like.

Day 75 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

maternity photographer delaware, delaware children's photographer

If you are just joining the blog please see Day 74 for the explanation of this series.

This image is my own personal struggle about being frumpy and getting my school work done vs. being the glamorous hottie I used to be. Sadly I don't have enough hours in the day to do both.

Day 74 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So I spent the entire spring break working on my midterm images. (Not much of a spring break!) I then spent countless hours compiling them in Photoshop. So here is the first image of my Mom-me series. It is a project about the internal struggles of being a Mother. I try to come up with situations that show two very different possibilities of how you would rather spend your time, or how you might have spent your time before having kids.

Little advertised fact about motherhood, Mom's don't get sick days. And if you do get sick, no one takes care of you like you are expected to care for the rest of your family. Above is my interpretation of that.

Day 73 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So here is the finished product! I broke out my sewing machine and had all the inserts sewn together in about 10 minutes. As I sat down to sew the pieces together I realized that I learned how to use a sewing machine in Home Economics. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a class that I took in high school that taught basic life skills like sewing and cooking. I was saddened by this realization because most of our children will never have the chance to take Home Economics, and half of them will never get to take a music or art class if the school systems don't improve.

Day 72 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So here is the bag with the inside foam inserts. I bought some foam from Joann's and cut it to size. This bag holds my camera with the 18-55mm lense, my 55-200mm lense, my wide angle screw on lense, my external flash, and some extra batteries. The next step is to cover it in fabric and add some velcro.

Mama's got a brand new (camera) bag. Well technically it's a purse, but I plan on turning it into a camera bag. Since I am personally too cheap to buy an Ephiphanie bag right now. I picked this bag up for $39 from Charming Charlie in Newport News, VA.

Stay tuned...

Day 70 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So today we got to go visit Wildman's Nana at the barn. He got to play with the baby ducks, feed the big ducks, run up and down the horse stables, play in shavings, and of course hang out with the horses. He wasn't too sure about the horses. He liked them until they got too close, then he would take his hand and push them away. LOL! He SHOULD have been worn out but was still up singing to himself at 11pm.

Day 69 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Ahhhh the first day of spring. This year we were lucky enough to be with family and actually have a BEAUTIFUL day. We spent it at the Peninsula Town Center in Hampton, Virginia. We some Italian ice and Wildman got to play in the fountain. It was one of the kind where the water jumps up at random times. Well needless to say it scared him quite a few times but he didn't want to leave! I caught one such time and the look on the lady's face near by is PRICELESS.

Day 68 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Ok so this day was supposed to be a picture of Shari (BFF/Sister from another Mother & Father) and I posing for our double straight jacket. But why show you that when I can show you the cause of our insanity... these two Boys Gone Wild, better known as BGWs. Wildman in the front with the bloodshot eyes and J-Bird in the back making crazy faces. It's a wonder I even caught them sitting still because they never.stop.moving.

Padded room for two please.

Day 66 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So here are a pair of $40 shoes from Stride Rite. Looking at their condition one might guess that they are several months old and ready to be replaced. But no, these are one day old shoes that my child managed to destroy at daycare. So now these are the designated daycare shoes. No matter what he has on, he will wear these shoes to daycare.

I just don't even have words for this situation.

Day 65 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So I thought you guys might enjoy this. Here is the picture of the room the next morning. At this point it was 8am and I had to go wake him up. It was a nice change from him getting up at 6am and refusing to go back to sleep.

Day 64 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

*Warning Pscyho Mommy Moment*

So this my friends is what happens when your husband goes away on business and your child won't go to bed. I spent over an hour being nice Mommy; rocking, patting, and trying to soothe my child to sleep. Every time I thought he was sleep and would try to sneak out, he would sit up in the bed and laugh at me. So after trying everything I knew to get him to got to sleep (while trying to simultaneously prepare my homework to be turned in) I lost it.

I don't even know how the idea hit me, but once it did I had cleaned out his entire room in about 15 seconds. When I was done the only thing left in there was the bed. I then told him Goodnight and closed the door. Of course he cried for a few minutes wanting his toys back, but then he grabbed his stuffed lion, got back in the bed, and went to sleep.

I love Pizza. Pizza with toppings on it - not so much. So that might lead one to wonder why I would order a supreme pizza just to take the toppings off of it. Well first off I'm weird. But other than that, I like to eat the toppings separately and I can still taste the flavor of the toppings in the sauce. So there you have it. Another fun (yet weird) fact about me.

Day 62 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Baby photography delaware, children's photographer delaware, maternity photography delaware

Ok admittedly this is not a new picture. BUT I spent all day searching high and low for the memory chip that held this picture. Well, not just this picture but all the pictures and video from the day that Wildman was born. I was frantic by the end of the night and just happen to see it sitting on top of the tv stand when I was about to give up and go to bed. Ironically, my husband knew it was there the whole time, and I never bothered to tell him what I was looking for. *slaps forehead*

So what's so special about this picture? Well at the time Wildman was about 4 weeks old. He had been released from the hospital after 3 weeks and just seeing that his hand was the size of the tip of my husband's pinky makes me teary eyed. He has come so far, and we still have a big battle in front of us.

Day 61 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Hands down the best thing about Easter candy is the Cadbury cream egg. It's chocolate, it's cream what more could you want? This year I also ran into the mini cream eggs which they sell in a dozen. They are super cute and really tasty. But the only problem is that I ate them all at once and at $3.79 for 12, that's just insanity.

I think I need a support group or something.

Day 60 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

And here it the paint on the wall. It came out better than I expected and it gives my office a nice calm feeling. I also found these cute dandelion vinyl stickers at Joann, and since dandelions are a part of my logo I had to stick them up. The picture hanging is one of my favorites. Every time Wildman points to it I give him a kiss. It used to be in his room but I stole it. (LOL!)

So for now this is my office. And as I finished it up with the charcoal gray (which came out looking navy blue) and the gray stripe, I thought, wouldn't these colors look nice in a nursery? *insert shady looking guy here*

Day 59 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Baby Photographer delaware, maternity photographer

Part of the fun of moving into a new house is that you get to start from scratch. (It is also part of the nightmare of moving into a new house.) But for a person like me who loves any excuse to paint, that is the huge up side.

So I spent an insane amount of time walking up and down the aisles holding paint chips together, tilting my head to the side to envision how they would look (because don't you always have to tilt your head to the side to think?) and I decided on my paint. I got it home and it looked nothing like I imagined. So here it is in the can....

Day 58 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Ok, ok. It's been a million years but life is just a bit overwhelming right now. I am coming up on Midterms (eek!) and I'm trying to organize this massive thing we call a house. So on to Day 58!

You thought you were escaping the tree picture but here is a new one! It was a crazy dark rainy day and I saw this tree. If you look closely you can see all the birds hanging out on the branches. I think I'm so drawn to trees when they are bare because that is when they are the most beautiful but everyone tends to ignore them.

Day 56 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Newborn Photographer Delaware, Infant Photographer Delaware

It's Monday! But no trees, power lines, or houses today. I got to do a super fun image for my other class so I thought I would share that one instead. How often do you really look at your food? Like get up, close, and personal with it? Not often enough? Well meet the strawberry.

P.S. As some of you may know, I had a very bad run in with an "in"edible strawberry from Edible Arrangements. After much time passed and a very sweet gesture from my husband I was cured. The bad image has been completely erased from my mind–pretty much.

Day 55 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Maternity Photographer Delaware

Today I had the great pleasure of doing a Maternity Photo session. There is something so magical about a pregnant woman. It is a very special thing to be able to create another life. With my issues of getting and staying pregnant I never take for granted what a gift it really is.

Day 54 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Maternity Photography Delaware, Baby Photographer Delaware

No you aren't seeing double... I really did shoot the image that way. Now on to the question of the day.

What is better than one chocolate cake for $3.99? Two chocolate cakes for $3.99!

Mmmmmmm cake. Shamefully, I will eat both of these cakes all.by.myself.

Day 53 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Newborn Photographer Delaware, Childrens Photographer Delaware

This my friends is what happens when your brain is firing on all cylinders. After being largely disappointed at the availability of airplanes for decorating Wildman's room I had to think outside the box. And this is what I came up with. Just needed some hooks, fishing line, and some toy airplanes from Toys 'R Us. He LOVES this thing. Unfortunately it does not have enough magic power to keep him in the bed like I hoped. That's an issue for another day...

Day 52 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Maternity photographer Delaware, maternity photography Delaware

So originally I took this image as half of another picture. But then I liked it as it was, so I kept it. This is a commentary on Motherhood. Elements that hint at Motherhood are the child proofing on the door handle, the child size chair, the monkey backpack, and of course the infamous baby monitor. It can be interpreted as running to or away from something. Take from it what you wish.

Day 51 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Maternity Photography Delaware

It's Monday. That means thesis photos! This is my latest addition. The power lines are meant to visually and metaphorically show the connection between technology and man. And to hint at the greater connectivity between us all.

Day 50 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Here it is, my first gray hair in all its' glory. I was innocently flat ironing my hair after washing it and was surprised to see it there. I guess this is the beginning of the end. I'm officially old.

Day 49 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So, my wonderful husband decided to surprise me with a bath in our new soaking tub. My bath was complete with candles, strawberries, and Ginger Ale (I was recovering from my stomach bug). While I was in there it was remarkably quiet, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. Then I came downstairs to this. Apparently all it takes is a video of Alicia Keys and he is stunned out of his mind.
