What can I say I'm a busy Mom, Student, Photographer, Wife, etc. That being said I feel like without doing this every day or once a week I'm missing my creative outlet. School work, is well academic, so not very freeing. So I'm going to give this a go, AGAIN. Shown here is the riveting book that I am reading. Magnum Stories, at 500 pages on a 12x12 book I think I should be finished some time in 2013.

Long time no see!

Well I have been away for quite awhile. Well here is the answer. After several instances of him falling out of the bed, we decided to push the bed up to a different side of the wall. So that's what I did. And is customary, every night (and nap time) I remove everything except the bed and the very heavy dresser from his room. Now I will be the first to admit that when Daddy does the dressing things can get a little dicey. Part of that is my shopping at Gymboree and Crazy 8 where all of his stuff is matchy-matchy. And I have a certain shirt that goes with a certain pair of shorts, that match a certain pair of socks. Recently I have been trying to break myself out of that habit but he still has a good deal of stuff that is made to go together. Anyway, my husband bought him this shirt (and a few others) and he decided to dress him today. I have been hinting about said bike for several months now. Our conversations were all summed up by this: He wanted me to exercise and I wanted a bike. Now we both get what we want. Although I wanted a "little old lady going to the market with a basket and a kiddie trailer hooked up back", he wanted something sleeker that would give me a work out. I ended up with a hybrid bike and I love it. It's light blue so I could still be a little old lady going to the market but it also has gears so that I can crank it up and (one day) break a sweat.

Day 121 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So I've got these lyrics stuck in my head:

This used to be a Funhouse
But now it's full of evil clowns
It's time to start the countdown
I'm gonna burn it down, down, down
I'm gonna burn it down

Yes I watched the VH1 documentary on Pink. Woohooo. Today my husband and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. Since the traditional gift for the 6th anniversary is candy, we took a mini-day trip to Havre de Grace, MD and visited Bomboy's Homemade Candy. It was like heaven to Wildman - who we had to drag alone for lack of a babysitter. We then walked down to the pier, hung out until we thought we were going to get rained on, then headed back to the car. While down at the pier Wildman spotted some dandelions and wanted to play with them. Since dandelions are part of my logo I knew I had to snag some pics. The day was finished off with my favorite food - PIZZA for lunch, and lobster for dinner!

Day 99 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

And this was the next step. Being as though Wildman is completely fascinated with doors, we had to remove the sliding doors off his closet. He would literally get up at 3am and go bang the closet doors back and forth. Now they are gone. If it takes this much to out smart him at 2, what the heck am I going to do when he's a teenager????????

P.S. The wall to the left is a shared wall with the closet to our master bedroom. As a result we hear lots of kicking and banging when someone doesn't want to go to sleep. So to out smart our toddler I had to move the bad several inches off the wall. Now before he can go to bed I have to drag out a bookshelf, a toy basket, a kitchen, and then move the bed of the wall. I will stalk my mailbox impatiently waiting for my 12.5 cent refund.

Day 96 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

As always if you are just joining my blog please visit this page for an explanation of this series.

This image to me symbolizes a big issue that I know I can't be the only one having. I missed some days of photos. Whoops! But guess what? The show goes one. I'll just pick up right where I left off and keep going. It's my Project 365 - I'll do what I want!

On this lovely day, I actually was able to get up, get dressed, and grab my camera before my son even thought about getting out of bed. So I did what any loving mother/photographer would do. I busted in there and starting snapping pictures, using my bounce flash--of course. After a few flash bursts, (which were mercifully pointed at the ceiling) he started to wake up and wonder what was going on.

Good times, good times.

Day 92 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

If you are just joining the blog please see Day 74 for the explanation of this series.

And here is the finished project. I am trying to add Wildman to the some of the photos (without much success). There are a lot of moving parts to these photo shoots and they often require at least some part of an outfit change and all of the other "elements" have to stay in their exact position so that I can merge the two photos together. So you see how this could be a problem when you add a 2 year old!

This image is pretty typical of what happens. He looks directly into the camera and poses. There is literally a Cheesecake Factory 7 minutes from my house but some how we ended up on an adventure and went to one that was over an hour away. Oh well, stranger things have happened. Now on to something strange.

For Day 90 I took two pictures with my phone. One was a picture of my silverware, and I was going to make some witty commentary about how we use plastic all the time and blah, blah, blah. Then I got my chocolate cake and I took a picture of the whipped cream because it was just so perfect. What I do not remember taking was this picture that is now posted for Day 90. It is a play on having kids vs. not having kids. But even the self who is supposed to be the Mother is actually daydreaming with the bubbles.

This week my challenge was to bring into play an overlapping of "selves" both literally and figuratively. You will notice that there is only one clothing item swapped out between the two. This gives you a clue that the selves are closer than my other images where they are dressed completely different.

Day 88 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

His first encounter with "Baby" was when I was loading approximately 8000 pictures from my external drive into iPhoto. It's my fault. I'm a photographer, I'm a student. I spend the majority of my time working on the computer. Add to that checking a few message boards and writing some emails--and the message being sent to my two year old is very clear. The computer is amazing! You must spend at least part of your day banging a keyboard and clicking a mouse. And so he does. So much so that I revamped my original clam shell iBook for him to use. Well, that worked out great until he discovered Photo Booth on my 27" iMac, who I lovingly call "Big Daddy" and who he calls "Baby."

Day 86 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

This image is another from my Mom-me series. Welcome to the celebration of the 1st Annual Empty Easter Egg Hunt. Monkey Man & Wildman had a blast finding the eggs in the backyard. So Bex & Monkey Man came to visit us over the Easter Holiday. Monkey Man & Wildman took awhile to warm up to each other but other than a few fall outs (and a in tandem tantrum) they did really well together. On this day we went to the what we are titling "THE WORLD'S TINIEST ZOO". If you have never been to the Brandywine Zoo in Delaware, don't worry, you aren't missing much. If you try hard enough you can stand at the front gate and throw a rock and hit the back of the zoo. My husband and I had gone for so long with out one that we forgot how important it could be. But with our toddler hopping up from his tiny table every time we turned our back-- it was time. Since buying it we have fallen in love with the table. Siting down to have conversations, eat as a family, or just hanging out. There are many articles that describe how important it is to eat together as a family so I won't bore you with the statistics, but if you have gotten away from this tradition - maybe it's time to bring it back.

Day 79 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Spring has sprung! So that means that in addition to warm weather, I get to sneeze my nose off, itch my eyes out, and breathe through my mouth. Then I noticed that the Wild One was walking around grabbing his nose and breathing really loudly. It took awhile for the light bulb to go off that maybe the pollen was bothering him too. So a quick trip to the local pharmacy and a bottle of saline is now our new best friend. Happy Spring.

Day 78 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

If you are just joining the blog please see Day 74 for the explanation of this series.

And last but not least... an idea from my BFF/Sister Shari. (Not much of a spring break!) I then spent countless hours compiling them in Photoshop. So here is the first image of my Mom-me series. It is a project about the internal struggles of being a Mother. I try to come up with situations that show two very different possibilities of how you would rather spend your time, or how you might have spent your time before having kids.

Little advertised fact about motherhood, Mom's don't get sick days. And if you do get sick, no one takes care of you like you are expected to care for the rest of your family. I broke out my sewing machine and had all the inserts sewn together in about 10 minutes. As I sat down to sew the pieces together I realized that I learned how to use a sewing machine in Home Economics. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a class that I took in high school that taught basic life skills like sewing and cooking. I was saddened by this realization because most of our children will never have the chance to take Home Economics, and half of them will never get to take a music or art class if the school systems don't improve.

Day 72 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So here is the bag with the inside foam inserts. I spent over an hour being nice Mommy; rocking, patting, and trying to soothe my child to sleep. Every time I thought he was sleep and would try to sneak out, he would sit up in the bed and laugh at me. So after trying everything I knew to get him to got to sleep (while trying to simultaneously prepare my homework to be turned in) I lost it.

I don't even know how the idea hit me, but once it did I had cleaned out his entire room in about 15 seconds. When I was done the only thing left in there was the bed. I then told him Goodnight and closed the door. Of course he cried for a few minutes wanting his toys back, but then he grabbed his stuffed lion, got back in the bed, and went to sleep.

Mommy - 1 Boy - 0

Day 63 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

I love Pizza. Pizza with toppings on it - not so much. So that might lead one to wonder why I would order a supreme pizza just to take the toppings off of it. Well first off I'm weird. Another fun (yet weird) fact about me.

Day 62 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Ok admittedly this is not a new picture. BUT I spent all day searching high and low for the memory chip that held this picture. Well, not just this picture but all the pictures and video from the day that Wildman was born. I was frantic by the end of the night and just happen to see it sitting on top of the tv stand when I was about to give up and go to bed. Ironically, my husband knew it was there the whole time, and I never bothered to tell him what I was looking for. *slaps forehead*

So what's so special about this picture? Well at the time Wildman was about 4 weeks old. He had been released from the hospital after 3 weeks and just seeing that his hand was the size of the tip of my husband's pinky makes me teary eyed. He has come so far, and we still have a big battle in front of us.

Day 61 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

Hands down the best thing about Easter candy is the Cadbury cream egg. It's chocolate, it's cream what more could you want? This year I also ran into the mini cream eggs which they sell in a dozen. They are super cute and really tasty. It came out better than I expected and it gives my office a nice calm feeling. I also found these cute dandelion vinyl stickers at Joann, and since dandelions are a part of my logo I had to stick them up. The picture hanging is one of my favorites. Every time Wildman points to it I give him a kiss. It used to be in his room but I stole it. (LOL!)

So for now this is my office. (It is also part of the nightmare of moving into a new house.) But for a person like me who loves any excuse to paint, that is the huge up side.

So I spent an insane amount of time walking up and down the aisles holding paint chips together, tilting my head to the side to envision how they would look (because don't you always have to tilt your head to the side to think?) and I decided on my paint. I got it home and it looked nothing like I imagined. It's been a million years but life is just a bit overwhelming right now. I am coming up on Midterms (eek!) and I'm trying to organize this massive thing we call a house. So on to Day 58!

You thought you were escaping the tree picture but here is a new one! It was a crazy dark rainy day and I saw this tree. If you look closely you can see all the birds hanging out on the branches. Well my friends I am here to tell you that one day you will be thanking yourself. Today was that day for me. I woke up at about 6 in the morning with my stomach in knots. I crawled down the stairs and tried to drink something to settle my stomach - didn't work. So I found myself curled up on the floor of the bathroom admiring my toilet up close and personal. (Maybe they should call it Wrinkle Guard 2.0, sounds more hi-tech.) As a result, I have not touched an iron since I've been in this house. I just throw my clothes (and Wildman's) clothes in the dryer and 5-10 minutes later I come back to wrinkle free items. Sweet!

Unfortunately, it is the only part of the set that is working. After waiting all day for a repairman to come and fix the washer, he showed up as the day was almost over, and realized that yet again he could not fix the washer. So now I have to wait until next Tuesday to get my washer fixed. grrrrrrrreeeeeeeaaaaatttt.

Day 44 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

So once again you have to suffer through my thesis workings. We are finally in our new house. And no you aren't getting any pictures until I get a chance to unpack and decorate. So here is one area of the house that I am not happy with, the closet in my son's room. The bar in the closet might be 2ft across. What am I supposed to do with this thing? My son has more clothes than I do, and his closet is expanding more rapidly than mine. Guess I'll be making a trip to my local Lowe's to figure out something to triple the size of this closet.

Day 41 - Natasha King Photography - Project 365

I hate diapers. Hate. Hate. Hate. My biggest joy about moving into my new house will be switching back to cloth diapers. Every time I have to spend $18 on a box of diapers (that the bigger they get the fewer diapers you get for your money!) I just want to cry. So here is (hopefully) the last box of Huggies that I will have to buy for a long time. He does wear disposable diapers at daycare but we only go through about one box every month and a half at home. When my husband and I first started dating I used to wear heels all the time. All.the.time. That carried on well into our marriage. It got so bad that my husband would insist that I take a pair of flats with me "in case I needed to run". So that was my thing. And then I got pregnant and demoted myself to "Mommy shoes". All my shoes were either flip flops, tennis shoes, or flat boots. Chasing after a two year old just seems easier that way. So when my husband told me to go buy some heels for myself I jumped at the chance. Don't know where I will wear these, but I am in love with them none the less.

Thanks for your patience.

I am in the final stages of my move. If you don't, he is the guy who does those AWESOME alter ego shoots which combines two pictures of the same person into one. I am thinking about doing "Mom Alter Egos" for my thesis and have started using myself as the guinea pig. Here is my first combined shot. The lighting is super awful but it was more about being able to combine the two images seamlessly. Well it looks like he found his own ride home.
